Golden Knots Recipe

These are the best sweet rolls. They don't last long around our house. Once you get the hang of it they are not very hard to make.

Golden Knots

Sprinkled with Cinnamon and Sugar
Plain

2 Envelopes Active Dry Yeast
2 Tbsp Sugar
1 1/2 Cup Warm Water
1 Cup Milk
1/2 Cup Butter
1 Cup Sugar
2 Eggs
2 Tsp Salt
8 Cups Flour, divided
2 Tbsp Butter, Melted

In a small bowl, dissolve yeast and 2 Tbsp. sugar in warm water.  Let stand until creamy, about 10 minutes. In a small saucepan, warm the milk until in bubbles, then remove from heat. Mix in the butter and 1 Cup Sugar; stir until melted. Let cool until lukewarm. In a large bowl, combine the yeast mixture with the milk mixture; add eggs, salt, and 3 Cups flour; stir well to combine. Stir in the remaining flour, 1/2 Cup at a time, beating well after each addition. When the dough has pulled together, turn it out onto a lightly floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic, about 8 minutes. Place in a greased bowl, turning once to grease the top. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hour. Punch down dough and divide into thirds; roll each portion into a 14-inch roll' divide each roll onto 14 pieces. Roll each piece into a 9 inch rope and tie into a knot. Place the rolls 2 inches apart on greased baking sheets. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 45 minutes. Meanwhile, preheat oven to 350. Bake for 15 minutes or until lightly browned. Remove from oven and brush with melted butter. (You can leave them plain or Sprinkle with Cinnamon and Sugar) Makes 42 rolls.
